Annie is the founder and Program Director of Firefly's Aerial Arts Program. She moved to Edmonton in 1999 and brought her love and passion for circus to Alberta. Along with John Ullyatt, she co-founded Firefly Theatre and Circus. Whenever they performed people would inevitably ask "where can I learn that?" In 2004, Firefly's Aerial Arts Program was launched and homegrown aerialists have been cropping up in Edmonton ever since.
Annie has over 20 years of circus experience, working with the Big Apple Circus, The Great Wallenda Shrine Circus, the New Pickle Circus and more. In 2007 she received the Mayor's Award for Innovative Artistic Direction. She is also the Artistic Director of Firefly Theatre.
Michalene came to Firefly Theatre in 2005 as a dancer and a high school science teacher, and fell in love with the trapeze. She is now a stay at home mother with her two daughters and has been coaching aerials with Firefly since 2009.
Lyne Gosselin is a sports aholic! She loves to take on new challenges. The more physical it is, the more she loves it. If Lyne is not practicing circus she is somewhere cross-training or simply enjoying the outdoors.
With an intensive trampoline background. coaching at the National circus school in Montreal , Québec circus school she is here in Edmonton sharing her knowledge and skills with Firefly theatre. Lyne is one of those coaches who enjoys seeing her students work hard and sweating it out.
Before Kim discovered Firefly Theatre in 2005, she spent as much time as possible climbing trees and other high objects. She started teaching with Firefly in 2007 after spending several months training in Australia. Kim loves making ways to tell stories; aerial circus arts and pop up books rank among her favourite methods.
Meghan "Watson" Schech first entered the theatre world doing musical theatre with Musicalmania. As well performing in numerous variety shows, pantomimes, and full length Musicalmania productions, she also co-directed Cindy Oxley's "Louis David Riel: the Dramatic Musical" for two years. Meghan fell in love with aerial circus and began her aerial training here in Edmonton in 2006. After training full time for a semester at the San Francisco Circus Center (fall 2008) she's back at Firefly Theatre and delighted to be teaching.
Charlie has been an entertainer his whole life. As a professional dancer, working for the Top Cruise Ships in the world, dancing for Disney in Japan, and Company work in Chicago, he is a highly skilled entertainer. Lately, Charlie has trained with Cirque de Soleil, Aerialize in Australia, and San Francisco Circus Center. He is now, a Guest Entertainer onboard the Norwegian Gem CruiseLiner.
